Frequently Asked Questions

  • How long does it take to set up ?
    We typically show up 1-2 hours before the event is supposed to begin, depending on what needs to get done. Our set-up does not take long and We can work round other suppliers, venue staff etc. If your event is close to Burton On Trent we will sometimes set up in the morning, and return in the evening for your event, if the venue allows it. If you need us to set up earlier and need us to stay all day that is also an option.
  • How do i pay ?
    The amount requested to secure an event (the deposit) varies and is pre agreed at the time of booking. Deposits Can Be Paid In 2 Ways. Cheque BAC's Payment (we provide you with our bank details) NOTE: All deposits are none refundable. A receipt will be provided for all deposits recieved. Your Balance Can Be Paid One Of 3 Ways (You Decide) In cash on the day of the event BAC's Payment (we will provide you with our bank details) Cheque 10 working days before the function date.
  • Do you require a deposit ?
    All Booking Over £200 Require a 25% Non refundable Deposit.
  • What is your cancellation policy ?
    In the event that The Client cancels a booking they will be liable to pay cancellation charges as follows: i) Cancellation over 60 days prior to the Event Date: No Fee. ii) Cancellation made 30-59 days prior to the Event Date: 25% of Total Invoice. iii) Cancellation made 15-29 days prior to the Event Date: 50% of Total Invoice. iv) Cancellation made less than 15 days prior to the Event Date: 100% of Total Invoice.
  • What kind of Equipment do you use ?
    We only use up-to-date professional DJ, audio, and lighting equipment.
  • Do you carry back up Equipment ?
    We do indeed have back-up equipment in case something goes wrong at your event. It's like a spaceship control centre! If you need more information on our equipment before booking us, please ask!
  • Fuel and Parking ?
    We are based in Swadlincote (South Derbyshire), but we do travel to numerous parties/venues in a 30 -40-mile radios (sometimes further for bigger events). That being said, the prices quoted on this site do not reflect extra fuel and time needed to attend events outside a 10-mile radius of Swadlincote, so there will be an added fair surcharge to reflect this (which we will agree on with final price quote). Also not included in the prices listed on this site are any parking fees. Because of the amount of equipment we bring to perform at your event, Parking must be supplied for free or paid for by the client.
  • Do Staff have DBS Checks ?
    All performers have enhanced DBS Checks.
  • Is one plug socket enough for a mobile disco?
    The answer to this depends greatly on the Package, for our smaller Packages - We use low power LED lighting and providing 2x 15" speakers one socket is enough although please always allow for 2 close to the mobile disco setup area (within 5m preferred max 10m).
  • Will my DJ have Public Liability Insurance & Portable Appliance Test certificates?
    Yes – we have full Public Liability Insurance (PLI) to the value of £10 million. Certificate available upon request. All of our equipment is Portable Appliance Tested (PAT) annually Our PAT certificate is available upon request.
  • What are your Terms and Conditions ?
    1) Booking Confirmation shall remain valid for acceptance for a period of 14 days and must be accepted by The Client in its entirety. 2) Any variation to the Services stated must be agreed in writing. 3) The Client will be invoiced for the Performance Fee plus any Other Services agreed on the Booking Confirmation. The Client shall settle this invoice by the due date stated unless otherwise agreed in writing. 4) Interest may be charged on all late payments at a rate of £10 per day. Reasonable expenses incurred in obtaining payment from The Client where any payment due is late may also be charged. 5) In the event that The Client cancels a booking they will be liable to pay cancellation charges as follows: i) Cancellation over 60 days prior to the Event Date: No Fee ii) Cancellation made 30-59 days prior to the Event Date: 25% of Total Invoice iii) Cancellation made 15-29 days prior to the Event Date: 50% of Total Invoice iv) Cancellation made less than 15 days prior to the Event Date: 100% of Total Invoice 6) If the venue provided by The Client is unable to accommodate the booking then The Client will be liable for cancellation charges as outlined above. 7) Where any Act is expected to wear stage clothing The Client must provide adequate dressing room facilities. Public toilets are unacceptable. 8) The Client agrees that if any member of staff is threatened, abused verbally or physically by anyone present at the function then the booking will be immediately suspended. All Fees will remain payable by The Client. 9) The Client must hold adequate insurance policies. 10) The Client is responsible for obtaining any work permits or other approvals for the booking prior to the commencement of an Engagement. 11) Any changes to the performance schedule will be subject to these Terms and Conditions. Star events will not be held responsible for any liabilities, claims, actions, damages to property or equipment, merchandise, products, persons or any losses or expenses of hirer/host. 12) If changes are required to the booking on the day of the event these changes should be discussed with your event organiser. 13) In the event that there is a delay in the start of the booking where such delay is no fault of Star Events, the Client shall remain liable to pay the full Fee due. 14) Should the Client wish to extend the length of the booking, a further fee may be charged as agreed between the party organiser 15) These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the law of England and the parties hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
  • How much do you charge ?
    As every event is different, we tailor our services to suit your event, meaning our prices can vary depending on the services you require. Please Contact Us for a bespoke price for your event.
  • Do you confirm the booking in writing ?
    All bookings are confirmed by a signed written Entertainment Agreement for your peace of mind. This can be done online using e-signature technology.
  • Is lighting included ?
    Yes – all of our disco packages include suitable lighting and sound equipment for your event and venue.
  • What time will you finish ?
    We have no set finish time. We will work with you and your venue to agree a suitable finishing time for your event. Most events we perform at finish at midnight, with some going onto 1:00am. We are more than happy to carry on into the small hours (assuming your venue agrees), however, finish times later than midnight will incur an extra charge.
